Many insurance plans now cover acupuncture in some capacity for some conditions! Each plan will vary on exactly what conditions fall under the category “Medically Necessary“, so check your plan carefully. In general musculoskeletal pain and headaches are covered without a referral or co-management by a PCP/Primary Care Provider. Nausea and/or side effects of chemotherapy are often covered with the approval of your PCP, Oncologist, or OB/GYN.

Oregon recently passed legislation designating acupuncture as an essential health benefit. Now all private insurers in the state of Oregon are required to include acupuncture benefits -specifically for at least 12 visits per year for some pain conditions. Your co-pay and covered medical conditions will vary with your individual plan. Please check your plan for details.
